Lena Martin began her journey with Urban League of Hudson County, Inc. in May of 1990, working as Clerical Support Staff. Her strong work ethic did not go unnoticed, and in a few years, she became the Administrative Assistant for the President/CEO, who was the late Elnora Watson at the time. In 2005 Ms. Martin became the supervisor for the New Jersey Cares for Kids Program, a position she held until 2012 when she became the supervisor to the Electronic Childcare Payment division.

Ms. Martin is a graduate of Saint Peter’s University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology. She is also a member of HSAC, NCAAP, and the Moose Lodge of Jersey City. Ms. Martin is the proud parent of three children, Sharrell, 48, Nina, 43, Austin, 40, and grandmother to ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In 2020, she, alongside her family, started G T Trucking, a trucking business that they are incredibly proud to own. We salute Lena Martin for always striving for greatness.
